A few weeks ago we announced a change to our upload rules. It was also announced that we would be flagging newly unsafe torrents to be removed on the 18th of August. As that date approaches, we would like to announce that all flagged torrents are now freeleech until August 18th! This means that all flagged torrents will be free to download while upload will be counted normally.
We see this as a great opportunity for members of the community to grab some excellent games and movies that you may have missed without sacrificing any ratio. We would also like to encourage new members and those of you in need of a ratio boost to jump in and help seed these torrents as well. We expect these next two weeks to be very exciting for the entire community as we give these torrents their proper farewell!
One last note, if you see any unflagged torrents that should be marked for deletion under our Upload Rules, please report the torrent so the Staff can look it over. The same applies to torrents which were erroneously flagged for deletion.
The following users have each been given 87.97 GB of upload credit as a result of their tickets being randomly chosen in this month's UG Lottery: CkR (With Ticket 1980) amuse (With Ticket 355) Bengtsson (With Ticket 894) lag051183 (With Ticket 188) GoblinKing (With Ticket 2169).
Congratulations! NOTE: You must be a Power User or above to participate in the UG Lottery.
As Underground Gamer continues to grow and mature, our rules are under constant review. After much staff consideration, we've decided on a few changes that we believe will better represent the site's ideals.
In an effort to improve the site's focus and streamline the rules (for members as well as staff), there are going to be some important changes to the upload rules. These changes will help counter increasing confusion related to the Safe Content rules. Starting immediately the upload rules will be as follows:
All PC games released before 2002 are safe. Anything released on or after January 1, 2002 is unsafe. The only exception is re-packaged content, such as GOTY packs, which are allowed as long as the original was released before the safe cutoff date.
All commercial video originally released or aired before January 1, 2002 is safe. Everything released afterwards is unsafe.
OSTs, comics, artbooks, and other game-related media are safe regardless of year.
Quality, user-created content will be allowed only after being cleared in the Safe Content forum. Fan-made content not cleared prior to upload will be subject to automatic deletion.
All content that is no longer allowed under the new rules will be removed by August 18th. This should allow for a tidy tracker and less confusion after the transition. In the interest of disclosure, Staff will begin to flag all content that is to be removed and will make the reasons for removal visible to all users so they know the potential ratio risk in downloading these files as we near August 18th. We hope that these new rules will make the uploading process smoother for all involved.
Questions and comments regarding the update can be posted here.
NOTE: This update should not be considered a replacement for the rules. As always, check the rules for more complete information.
