Golden Torrent Weekend IX has come to an end.


'What's a Golden Torrent Weekend?' I hear you n00bs ask.... well, during a GT weekend the tracker treats Golden Torrents a bit differently. Basically:

Anything downloaded on a Golden Torrent during the weekend will not count towards your download amount!

And to reward seeders: anything uploaded on a Golden Torrent during the weekend will count as double towards your total upload amount!

So, basically: Everyone's a winner!

To celebrate our third birthday (see post below!), we're also launching a special Underground Gamer RPG some might know as the Legend of The Green Dragon.

On August 18th, 2005 Underground Gamer officially launched with twenty five members. Today, three years later, Underground Gamer is a thriving community of twenty five thousand members. Our journey from a small group of people sharing gaming OSTs into one of the most comprehensive resources for retro gaming goodness on the internet has been an amazing one. And we plan to uphold that tradition by continuing to build and improve the site going forward.

First of all, we would like to announce that we will be switching to the Project Gazelle codebase in the near future. Project Gazelle is a major upgrade and rewrite of the traditional TBSource code (on which UG is currently built). Gazelle is highly customizable, with the themes being easily manipulated with CSS. Therefore, we will be holding a CSS competition for Gazelle in the near future. This will allow us to launch the Gazelle version of UG with some unique, user-created styles. We will have more information on this in the near future.

Also, next weekend will be a Golden Torrent Weekend in commemoration of our third birthday. The GTW will start this Friday and end on Sunday (22nd-24th August). During the Golden Torrent Weekend, anything downloaded on a Golden Torrent will not count towards your download amount! And to reward seeders: anything uploaded on a Golden Torrent during the weekend will count as double towards your total upload amount!

Finally, we would like to thank every member of the community. If it weren't for the consistent support from every one of you along the way, Underground Gamer would not exist today.

A few weeks ago we announced a change to our upload rules. It was also announced that we would be flagging newly unsafe torrents to be removed on the 18th of August. As that date approaches, we would like to announce that all flagged torrents are now freeleech until August 18th! This means that all flagged torrents will be free to download while upload will be counted normally.

We see this as a great opportunity for members of the community to grab some excellent games and movies that you may have missed without sacrificing any ratio. We would also like to encourage new members and those of you in need of a ratio boost to jump in and help seed these torrents as well. We expect these next two weeks to be very exciting for the entire community as we give these torrents their proper farewell!

One last note, if you see any unflagged torrents that should be marked for deletion under our Upload Rules, please report the torrent so the Staff can look it over. The same applies to torrents which were erroneously flagged for deletion.
